Hunting in group necessitates great organization. Whenever a group starts out into the wilderness to hunt an animal with either bows or firearms, it is of utmost importance that each member recognizes correct deer behavior, local hunting regulations, and ethics and has the proper skills when it comes to the weapons used. Also, just in case, each member of the party should have first aid training. You may never know!

For the best end result, the areas planned for the hunt are scouted several months in advance, before the season opens. The hunters will look over areas and place video cameras where they suspect game to be. The cameras will be checked and the decision of the hunting grounds will be made. Hunters can also plant food to bring deer to the area and will completely stock the hunting cabins.

The group should be composed of people who share mutual trust to avoid any possibility that someone could get injured or killed, merely because there was a lack of communication or qualifications. Family members of the people in the group should be informed of the exact hunting grounds, should something unexpected happen. The members of the group should also be familiar with their surroundings, in order to quickly find the nearest phone and medical assistance, if the need would ever arise.

First, the entire hunt can easily be missed if you do not set off early in the morning. The group has the greatest chance of getting to where the deer feeding grounds are by early rising, while still dark outside. From a safety point of view, hunting as a group can have its benefits. If one hunter is injured, he should allow another member to sit back and give help, while the others find professional medical assistance.

Now, let’s consider some more important advice about group hunting. For one, every person in the group should pursue a clear set of rules. Even though every individual adds a distinct perspective to the hunt, it’s more important to be a team rather than three or four individuals. Proper clothing is also a must! Along with the correctly camouflaged apparel, remember to bring maps and have the weapons in top working condition. Other accessories to remember include ammunition, food, water, ropes, matches etc. If possible, handheld GPS devices help out in case of intentional separation or becoming lost. With their help, the individual can get back to the camp in safe condition.

A fact that should always be remembered is that deer have a keen sense of smell. When something as simple as a chewing gum could be picked by their staggering sense of smell, everyone must remember to thoroughly clean themselves as well as use scent control products on the market, which can give further help.

Each person needs to be in the correct strategic position to get and keep the deer moving. They are infamous for staying or returning to familiar land, so by properly positioning the team mates, the game is forced out of a comfortable setting and into the open.

Group hunting can be more beneficial when done properly, but without preparation, it can result in a massive loss of time and energy. Bring the people you trust, make a plan, and have fun! Also, remember that hunting, as a game and recreational activity, never goes hand in hand with alcohol. Always be safe!

Whenever archers get together there are always those among them who would have us believe because our ancestors shot a bow five thousand or fifty thousand years ago that we moderns can shoot a bow instinctively and all that we have to do to hit a mark or bag our buck is to take a deep breath, look at the target, draw the arrow back to the ear, and let fly.

Well, if you buy that line, you will not be any better a marksman than your remote ancestors. Legends about Robin Hood’s merry men to the contrary, your ancestors were inferior marksmen by modern standards. With primitive equipment, they developed the art of stalking game to a high degree in order to close to point-blank-range to register a hit. In the thousands of years since man first stood on his feet and walked, the period in which he has used missile weapons is of relatively short duration. No one can fix the exact “time” of man’s arrival on earth and even as late as the year 1860, the majority of scientists believed man’s existence covered a span of less than 6,000 years. Since that date, evidence of man’s antiquity yielded through the discovery of ancient graves, fossilized remains found in geological formations laid down in the past, and excavations carried out in the exploration of caves in France and elsewhere in Western Europe, permitted archaeologists to establish that man was certainly in existence at the beginning of the Pleistocene period. Unfortunately no sure means of estimating the duration of these periods in terms of years is as yet known to geologists.

Estimates vary from two hundred and fifty thousand years to one million and five hundred thousand years as the length of the period. The most reliable evidence now at our disposal indicates that man made his first appearance in Europe late in this period between forty thousand and twenty-five thousand years ago and near the end of the Fourth Glacial Age. From ten thousand to twelve thousand years ago, Neolithic man migrated to Western Europe. The Neolithic men of Europe were white men ancestral to the modern Europeans. This stage in culture is characterized in part by the abundance of stone arrow heads. And so we conclude that at this relatively recent stage in our human history our ancestors learned to use the bow. The origin of the bow, however, is lost in the uncertainties of fixing exact dates for the different cultures of mankind. Excellent drawings of archers are found in the Palaeolithic carvings at Castellon, Spain and elsewhere. These carvings date back according to anthropologists from fifteen thousand to thirty-five thousand years. In Asia, during the early periods of recorded history, great military nations used a composite, reflexed bow of horn, wood, and sinew, that had a drawing weight up to one hundred pounds. The ancient Greeks, Assyrians, Turks, and Chinese, were adepts in the use of this type of bow. The metal bow, however, is a product of the twentieth century, while one of the latest developments in the bowyer’s art is the fibre-glass bow.

Even a casual reader or a student of history must conclude that individual aimed fire of missile weapons is a relatively modern development. The tactics employed by the military nations of the, past in the use of missile weapons such as the bow and in still more recent times, firearms, are indicative of the little importance attached to accurate individual marksmanship in the relatively recent past.

Samuel Colt was an American inventor and industrialist. He was the founder of Colt’s Patent Fire-Arms Manufacturing Company (now known as Colt’s Manufacturing Company), and is widely credited with popularizing the revolver. CMC was founded, in order to produce revolvers, of which Colt held the patent, during the Mexican-American War.

Samuel Colt was born in Hartford, Connecticut, to Christopher Colt, a farmer who had moved his family to Hartford when he changed professions and became a businessman, and Sarah Caldwell, who died before Samuel was seven years old.

Christopher Colt remarried two years later to Olive Sargeant. The Colt family included eight siblings: five boys and three girls. Two of the sisters died in childhood and the other committed suicide later in life. Samuel’s brothers were a huge part of his professional life.

Colt was apprenticed to a farm in Glastonbury, England, at age 11, where he did chores and attended school. At Glastonbury, he was introduced to the Compendium of Knowledge, a scientific encyclopedia that he preferred to read rather than doing his Bible studies. This encyclopedia contained articles on Robert Fulton and gunpowder.

Robert Fulton was an American engineer and inventor, who is widely credited with developing the first commercially successful steamboat.

While reading the Compendium, he discovered that Robert Fulton and several other inventors had accomplished things deemed impossible-until they were done. Later, after hearing soldiers talk about the success of the double barreled rifle and the impossibility of a gun that could shoot five or six times, Colt “decided he would be an inventor and create the ‘impossible’ gun”.

In 1829, Colt began working in his father’s textile plant in Ware, Massachusetts, where he had access to tools, materials, and the factory workers’ expertise. Using the ideas and technical knowledge he had acquired earlier from the encyclopedia, Samuel built a homemade galvanic cell and used it to explode a gunpowder charge in the waters of Ware Lake.

In 1832, Colt’s father sent him to sea to learn the seaman’s trade. Colt would later say that the concept of the revolver was inspired by his observations of the ship’s wheel during his first voyage. He discovered that regardless of which way the wheel was spun, each spoke always came in direct line with a clutch that could be set to hold it, which became known as the revolver.

When Colt returned to the United States in 1832, he went back to work for his father, who financed the production of two pistols. The guns turned out to be of poor quality because Christopher Colt believed the idea to be folly and would hire only inexpensive mechanics.

One of the guns burst upon firing, and the other would not fire at all because the guns were of poor quality and Christopher Colt would hire only inexpensive mechanics. Later, after learning about nitrous oxide (laughing gas) from the factory chemist, Colt took a portable lab on the road and earned a living performing laughing gas demonstrations across the United States and Canada. It was during this time that he made arrangements to begin building guns using proper gunsmiths from Baltimore, Maryland. In 1832, at the age of 18, Colt applied for a patent on his revolver and came back from a voyage with the model.

Colt was one of the early influential companies in the race to successfully create a product with interchangeable parts. At London’s Crystal Palace Exhibition in 1851, a Colt exhibit disassembled ten guns and reassembled ten guns using different parts from different guns. It took many more years (which saw a commission by the UK government that cast doubt on Colt’s abilities) before the point became universally accepted that such manufacture was possible or economical.

The first of the four “Colt .45″ models was the aforementioned 1873 Single Action Army, of which Colt was the original producer, and which was one of the most prevalent firearms in the American West during the end of the 19th century. Colt still produces this firearm, in six different calibers, two finishes and three barrel lengths.

The second “Colt .45″ was the Colt Model of 1878. It was Colt’s first large frame double action revolver. It combined the front end of the Single Action Army revolver with a double action 6 shot frame mechanism. It was available commercially in numerous calibers including .45.

In 1902 the U.S. Army purchased several thousand of the 1878 revolvers in caliber .45 Colt with an over-sized trigger guard. These were issued by the US Army to the, then new, Philippine Constabulary Corps. Some of them are also believed to have accompanied US troops to Alaska in the early 1900s. For these reasons the 1902 purchase revolvers are sometimes called the Alaskan or Philippine model. Although long obsolete to the US Army, these revolvers were still in use in the Philippines when Japan invaded in 1941.

The third “Colt .45″ was the New Service Double Action revolver. From introduction in 1898 to the beginning of World War II it was a major part of the Colt line. In caliber .45 Colt, it was accepted by the U.S. Military as the Model 1909 .45 revolver, and replaced the 1873 Single Action revolvers. It primarily differed from the Model 1878 by having a swing out cylinder for faster loading with a new method of ejecting cartridges, and an improved trigger design. The New Service revolver was also available in other calibers such as .38 Special, and later on in the 20th century, .357 Magnum.

One of the first truly modern-style handguns, the Colt revolvers became known as “The Great Equalizer”, because they could be loaded and fired by anyone, whereas most previous guns had required sufficient strength and dexterity. In theory, anyone who had a modern-style revolver was equal to anyone else, regardless of their relative physical abilities. This term has since come to be used for firearms in general, as awkward weapons like muzzle-loaded muskets became a thing of the past.

Colt’s innovative contributions to the weapons industry have been described by arms historian James E. Serven as “events which shaped the destiny of American Firearms.” In 2006, he was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.

Though Colt firearms are still well known for the engineering, production, and marketing of dozens of different firearms, it now also has the reputation for accuracy, reliability and quality. It has made many civilian and military designs used in the United States, as well as many other countries throughout the world.

Hiking over mountains and trekking through thick forests may seem to be a tough and demanding sort of activity, but in fact all it takes is a good fitness level, some basic equipment and a sound understanding of a few key concepts. The key for those new to hiking, as with most other learning experiences, is to take things slowly.

So where should you start? An excellent idea to begin with would be to find a suitable location in your local area in which to practice; a park or an area of the nearest suburbs for example. By staying local to residential areas you are ensuring the terrain remains reasonably tame and that you are never too far from help if something should go wrong. Walking in a group with experienced hikers is always a good idea; it increases your own safety and that of the other members of the group and also allows you to ask questions if you are unsure about anything or would just like some extra guidance.

Anticipating weather conditions and equipping yourself accordingly is another important element of hiking and although you should only consider hiking in good conditions to begin with, it is still crucial that you remember to pack equipment and clothing for any outcome. Clothing is another element of paramount importance to a good hiker, with footwear being the most crucial attire of all. However, expensive hiking boots are by no means imperative; any footwear that is consistently comfortable and durable will be suitable for most hikes. It is vital, however, that you test a range of products and choose something most suitable to your own preferences. You should never wear a new pair of boots or shoes straight out of the box on a hike, instead wearing them for a few days in advance to allow yourself to properly adjust to them and ensuring that they are ‘broken in’ and will remain comfortable for the duration of the hike.

As with footwear, the rest of your clothing should be chosen primarily for the sake of comfort. Ideally, you should be wearing reasonably loose fitting clothes; they should not restrict your movement in any way, but should not be so lose as to become a hindrance. Weather conditions on your planned hike must also be taken into account and clothing that will maintain a constant and comfortable body temperature should be worn, with layering being the key here. Having chosen clothing to begin the hike in, you must also ensure you pack spares in case of changes in weather conditions; you should also never leave without a few extra pairs of socks!

Finally, there are a few items of basic equipment with which new hikers should familiarise themselves. The most important and potentially lifesaving of these are a good quality topographic map and compass. The ability to find your bearing and read a map accurately is the by far the most important skill for hikers. Other equipment to consider ranges from basics, such as sun lotion and sunglasses, through to potentially important items such as a first aid kit and water purifying tablets.

If you are planning to have an outdoor adventure, you need to be prepared with your outdoor camping gear. It is not necessary to bring everything from your kitchen and bedroom to have a comfortable condition. All you need to have is the survival gear.

Depending on your adventure, you can have hiking gear and camping and hunting gear. For all outdoor adventures, you will need the essentials including footwear, clothing, backpacks, camping tents, campground cooking tools and accessories.

Most outdoor foot wear is camping boots and trekking and hiking shoes. For serious hikers and campers, REI has high-end products for backpacking boots. You can also check out the hiking shoes of The Walking Company for good options, if you are an enthusiast of urban treks. Most shoes of The Walking Company ensure comfort.

Clothes are very important outdoor camping gear, because it can be cold at night when you are on highlands like mountain tops or hill tops. Be sure to bring with you a waterproof storm jacket. Check out Patagonia, Moosejaw and Backcountry.

Eastern mountain sports make quality backpack. Their products include daypacks, hydration packs and multi-day packs. Backpacks need to be durable because they hold and keep valuables. Camping tents provide shelter and protection for you when you are outdoors.

You will be shielded against the scorching heat of the sun, the pouring rain, and the rushing wind. Tents keep you guarded from pests like mosquitoes, noseeums and flies. They also protect your valuables like camp gear.

Outdoor camping gear would not be complete without your cooking tools. Whether you love cooking, preparing raw foods or opening canned goods, you will need to use fire. In most camp sites, a separate ground for cooking is prepared.

Be sure to bring a bag of charcoal, spatula, propane stove, few pots, skillet and you will never be hungry. You can bring meat for steaks, hot dogs, hamburgers and sandwiches. Among the camping accessories that you will need are the sleeping bags, compass and maps. You can also bring GPS.

Compass and maps are particularly important for people who visit a site for the first time or when there is no tour guide to provide directions. GPS devices are among the outdoor camping gear that is a product of technology innovation to make camping more convenient.

Sleeping bags and pads will not make you miss your bed at home. You will not have to sleep on hard ground as you can use cushions. You can choose inflatable pads or closed-cell pads. You will place your sleeping bag on top of the pads.

If you are new to camping or hiking, you should choose summer as the ideal season for you. If such is the case, you will not need an expensive sleeping bag for your outdoor camping gear. A lightweight rectangular sleeping bag will be comfortable for you.

If it is too warm, sleeping on top of it with a sheet or blanket is recommended. Of course, you need to bring pillow and blankets for a good night sleep. Hiking or camping is more enjoyable when you have complete outdoor camping gear.

Are you a hunter, camper, or avid hiker? Are you just a man or woman that likes to carry a pocket knife with them on a daily basis, what is commonly referred to as an EDC? It can be hard to choose the best tactical knife for your needs if you don’t put a little time and research into the matter. Today, the most common knife on the market is called the “tactical knife.” Lot’s of folks think that a “tactical knife” is only used by people in the military or law enforcement categories. Today, this is just not the case. To look at tactical knives that way would mean that you would have to resign yourself to the fact that any knife with a sharp edge can be a tactical knife.

The tactical knife has been in production for years and yes they have been used for military and law enforcement applications by such people as soldiers and police, but over the years these excellent tools have found their way into the mainstream for such things as hunting, fishing and everyday carry by the masses.

The modern tactical knife has been modified and adapted to other chores besides military and law enforcement These days. When looking for the best tactical knife for you here are some things to consider before purchasing one. Do you want your tactical knife to be a folder or be a fixed blade? If you are going to carry a knife everyday for work or just to have one then you will want a folder and if you are geared toward outdoor activity then you will want to maybe consider a fixed blade.

Your best tactical knife should only be made of the best stainless steels from USA, Germany, Sweden, and Japan. Don’t waste your money on cheap Chinese stainless like Xcrmo13, Xcrmo9, Xcrmo8 and others as they don’t hold a performance edge. Are you going to use the tactical knife in a police or military job description? You may want to think about getting an auto opener versus a manual opening type of folder for fast deployment and execution tasks as the job dictates.

Are you a fireman or some form of rescue or first responder? If so many people in this area use a tactical folder that has a rounded point and is referred to as a rescue folder or rescue fixed blade. This is very common is the search and rescue fields. Remember, tactical refers to a knife that you can open with one hand so that you can have your other hand free for other things. This is very important. One key thing to remember about choosing the best tactical knife for you is that you are going to be using it. You want it to have a comfortable feel in the hand and fit ergonomically in your hand so that you can work with it for long periods of time without your hand cramping up on you. This is a very important consideration to make. If a tactical knife handle is to thin in your hand then it can move around in your hand and be uncomfortable. You want your tactical knife to fill up your hand properly and leave no gaps for it to slip. The last thing to consider is the carry option that you will employ. Will you carry your tactical folding knife using a pocket clip? Will you carry your tactical folder in a belt sheath?

Before entering into the domain of any career, you must know the basics of how to get chosen. Well, the basic rather the first step of it is to write a military to civilian resume that will be attractive as well as accepted in all places. When you search for a job and post your resume your motto is to generate response from your employers, so here you have to do the same thing but there is a slight difference. The difference being a shift from a very rigorously experienced field to a civilian post for which you have to know the tricks of military to civilian resume writing.

So if you were in the military forces, then you must have had enough regimentation in your life, and when you have decided to make a shift at the civilian job sector, then military to civilian resume writing must be taken into special consideration. To make yours standout among others, this impression is quite essential. You have to let go of all the military nuances from your professional life and your resume because you are making a transition. Sure, it might take you a few good days to settle in, but then, if this is what you are planning for then just know a few basic things.

The resume

You have to be receptive and have a simple approach while you make your resume because military to civilian resume has to be made pertaining to civilian organizations, not military ones. You should be concise, and use proper keywords and when you make your statements, it is recommended not to go into deeper details of what you have done in which military regime and where. You can add these details in a precise manner so that your value is maintained. Military to civilian transition is something that takes a long time to decide and if you have made up your mind, then there is no looking back.

The purpose

If you want to help the society or want to join a corporate firm then make sure you are able to make your point clear in your resume pertaining to the job profile and criteria of your employer. It should not have a strict tone, or a demanding tone, so let your wish know, only by making it acceptable by your employers. When writing a military to civilian resume you should be able to make your employees understand why you want to make this transition, and this explanation should be based on solid facts. There may have been various pressures or your own free will for which you want to be a civilian, so make sure to explain such in a fine fashion.

You should not go on and on about discipline etc. instead highlight your leadership skills and your ability to do proper team work, because in the army you have been taught these efficiently. Despite such basic things you have nothing to worry about the technicalities of your military to civilian resume.

The average gun owners’ rifles and other guns aren’t dangerous in and of themselves, they only become dangerous when they’re in the hands of someone who doesn’t know the rules of safe gun handling or ignores the rules altogether. Knowledge is the key to safety and here are four of the most important things to keep in mind when handling a rifle or firearm of any kind.

Number One: Learn how to handle a gun safely. If you aren’t familiar with guns, the time to learn how they work is before you pick one up. Have someone who knows the weapon teach you how it operates. Learn the parts of the gun, how it operates, how to open and close the action, how to remove the magazine or ammo and how to engage the safety.

Although most guns do have a safety mechanism, never assume it’s completely safe. Dropping the gun may still cause it to fire and safety mechanisms can sometime be faulty or fail.

Number Two: Always keep the gun pointed away from people and in a safe direction. Always assume the rifle could fire at any time causing injury or death.

When you’re walking with a firearm, keep the barrel pointed down to the ground or into the air away from people around you. When you’re climbing through a fence, set the gun down before climbing through and don’t pick it up until you are clear of the fence.

Be aware of what’s around you when handling a gun. Just because the barrel is not pointed at a person doesn’t mean it’s safe. Make sure there are no large rocks, metal objects or other things that could cause a misfired bullet to ricochet into someone or fly back at you.

Number Three: Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot. If you are planning to take a shot soon, place your finger along the side of the rifle or on the trigger guard. This is especially important if you are not familiar with the gun. A “hair trigger” that you don’t know about can be deadly.

Never have your finger or other object near the trigger when you are walking or moving the gun around. Never touch the trigger when you are in a moving vehicle.

Number Four: Keep your rifle and other firearms unloaded until you’re ready to use them, but always assume a gun is loaded before you touch it. When you pick up a gun, immediately check the safety to make sure it’s engaged and check the chamber or magazine to make sure it’s empty. Never pull the trigger to make sure the chamber is clear. If you don’t know how to check for a loaded gun, don’t even touch it.

Out in the middle of nowhere you rely on your kit and equipment. It’s not just what you sleep in or walk in, it’s all of the things you may need such as flashlights, warming or cooling undergarments, knives and sunglasses. You need to ensure you are fully equipped as you don’t know how the weather will turn or how bad the terrain is until your out there in it! tactical gear is probably not something you may have considered before, but if it’s good enough for the police and military then surely it’s good enough for you.

The range of tactical gear you and I could use is quite extensive. As mentioned things like flashlights, knives and sunglasses are all classed as tactical wear. What you will find with any tactical gear is that is made and manufactured to exacting standards. The police and military who use tactical gear demand that it is fit for purpose and fulfills specific requirements. That is why tactical gear is perfect for any outdoor activity. Even if you just want a very good pair of walking boots, you need look no further than a tactical gear store.

tactical gear such as boots has to be made to withstand the toughest of terrains with extremes of temperature. There are specific boots that help keep your feet cool and dry in the hottest of weather and boots that will ensure your feet stay warm, dry and comfortable in the coldest of weather. T-shirts have been specifically designed with military and police in mind and these tactical t-shirts have moisture control systems that maintain body temperature. Some t-shirts even have anti-bacterial properties to help the build up of odors.

There are some items of tactical gear that you will find invaluable outdoors. Tactical jackets are one such item. They come in a range of different styles and with various different attributes to help you get the best out of your time outdoors. With windbreaker and waterproof versions of jackets, there is something to suit wherever you happen to like going. There are a number of 5 in 1 and 3 in 1 jackets that offer the versatility you need to cope with any weather conditions Mother Nature throws at you. All tactical wear will give you the edge you need to be at one with nature safely.

You may think that tactical gear of such high specifications and specialist use will be price prohibitive. In fact, the online retailers of tactical gear have some fantastic prices, and you don’t have to buying in bulk to benefit from them. You could get all of the kit you need for that great outdoor adventure in one place and at a substantial saving. The stores that sell outdoor wear can have very expensive prices, and if you prefer to shop that way then that’s fine. Do have a look at what is available though, you will be pleasantly surprised at the range and the costs.

It’s not possible to imagine a country without law enforcement and military forces. Without the existence of police gear, law enforcement officers cannot carry on their duties on a regular basis. Hence, the general public is dependent upon police and military officers for safety and they in turn rely on tactical equipment. Technology has simplified the lives of many and it is evident in tactical supplies. Latest technology is implemented in both lethal as well as non-lethal weapons. Manufacturers of police gear take into consideration the kind of duties that police officers perform and thrive to meet their demands accordingly. When compared to the tactical items designed few decades back, modern equipment is really a boon to the law enforcement department.

Earlier, police gear used to be bulky and heavy unlike the modern ones. The material used in manufacturing modern day equipment is strong and it also lasts longer. Well-renowned manufacturers also give importance to the design, without compromising on major factors such as durability, comfort, functionality and safety. Advanced police gear enables law enforcement officers to carry out life endangering tasks with more confidence. With advancement in technology, latest features such as flame resistant, water and weather resistant boots offer more benefits to the user. The tactical items used earlier had less number of features. The modern police gear allows law enforcement officers to concentrate on their job fully, without being interrupted by non-functional tactical items.

The competition for manufacturing police gear has increased, thus paving way for numerous brands to enter the market. This gives police officers the freedom to choose from various brands. Apart from existence of numerous brands, there are different types of police gear. This enables buyers to choose specific types of tactical equipment that are more ideal for their kind of job. Earlier, specific type of boots and shoes were strictly meant only for usage by police officers. But nowadays, combat boots are also seen as a fashion accessory. These kinds of boots have made a fashion statement among women. Due to the outstanding features, the combat boots and shoes are extremely useful for mountaineering and other tasks.

Implementation of LED technology in modern police gear is another advantage. Flashlights and batons are integrated with this kind of technology in order to offer more benefits to the users. Patrol officers find these kinds of tactical items extremely useful during nighttime while they are on routine patrol. Even though modern police gear has all the latest features that help police officers in carrying out their routine tasks, it is quite expensive. The cost of a tactical item depends upon the quality and number of features integrated.
